The World Beer Experience
5,770 unique beers from 6,675 check-ins, and a quest since 2011 to drink one from every country. 121 of 195 possible places ticked off so far, and 137 reviews to prove it.
What hooked me
It started in 2011 with one goal: drink a beer from every country in the world. Then it kept going. As of September 2026, Untappd says I've had 5,770 unique beers from 6,675 check-ins.
The quest
The one-per-country list stands at 111 countries plus 10 territories and regions, including Jersey, Guernsey, Réunion, Martinique, Tahiti and Macau. That's 121 of 195 possible places, where "possible" leaves out anywhere with no known beer. England, Scotland and Wales count separately, because of course they do. 48 of them I drank in the place itself.
For more than a decade, every new country got a blog post: a tasting note and a scorecard out of 50 across Packaging, Refreshment, Flavour, Alcohol and Price. The best scored 48. The worst scored 6.
Somewhere out there is a beer that scored six out of fifty. It has its own place in the hall of shame.
What I built
The old Blogger blog is now a dashboard. The front page is a world map shaded by review score, and territories get their own shapes rather than being folded into a bigger country. Next to it are the story, the top-rated and hall-of-shame lists, and all 137 reviews, searchable.
Then there's the hunt. The map and dashboard show which places are next up (a source has been found), which are still being hunted, and which have no known beer yet.
It's a static Astro site. Every review is now a Markdown file in git, not a Blogger post.
Where it's at
It's live at beer.jimhasadhd.fyi. The migration from Blogger is done. It's a static site on Cloudflare, like everything else here.
